Team New Sun Foundation was born out of a serendipitous conversation among a group of school students in 2019. With a shared vision of staying connected and a desire to contribute positively to society, we embarked on a journey without a clearly defined path. Starting with just our pooled pocket money, this small yet significant gesture marked the beginning of something much larger. Our parents and teachers played a crucial role in encouraging us, providing the support and freedom needed to explore and address various societal issues.

In our early days, we focused on raising social awareness through different social media platforms, shining a light on a range of pressing social concerns. Though we were uncertain about the exact direction our efforts would take, our commitment to making a difference remained steadfast. This initial phase laid the foundation for our ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact in our community and beyond.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it became a defining moment for Team New Sun Foundation, illuminating the profound needs within our community and underscoring the pivotal role we could play in addressing them. In response, on May 31, 2020, fueled by funds raised from our own pockets, we embarked on a mission to provide essential food items to underprivileged children in our locality of Belgharia. What started as a single act of kindness quickly evolved into a steadfast commitment.

As the pandemic persisted and the second wave surged, we witnessed firsthand the staggering number of people left without enough food to eat each day. Motivated by empathy and a sense of responsibility, we launched our most ambitious initiative yet – "We Care" – in collaboration with the Akutra Foundation. Despite our limited resources, we managed to provide daily lunches to 80 individuals for over a month. This effort not only nourished bodies but also kindled hope and solidarity within the community.

Word spread about our efforts, and soon, others joined our cause. Our team grew, and we began receiving calls from different corners of West Bengal, pleading for our assistance in supporting those struggling to meet their basic needs.

We started planning various projects like "Agomonir Ahobane" and "Winter's Smile" to provide food items and clothes to people who were in desperate need. We visited several regions including Purulia, Jhargram, Bolpur, Garhbeta, and the Sundarbans to arrange and distribute necessary items for those in need. Generous donations from various sources, in both cash and kind, greatly contributed to the success of our projects.

As part of our journey, we introduced an innovative concept to encourage people to celebrate their special days in a meaningful way—by providing either food or educational accessories to children who lack these essential items. This initiative not only brought joy to the children but also allowed our supporters to make a tangible difference in their communities. Our efforts have fostered a sense of solidarity and compassion, as we continue to work together to uplift those in need.

We realized that as a social welfare organization, it is also our responsibility to protect our environment and promote cultural and artistic talents. This awareness led us to initiate programs such as "Sobujer Sondhane," aimed at celebrating World Environment Day and raising awareness about the importance of tree plantation through our #sobujersondhane campaign. This initiative not only educated the community on the significance of environmental conservation but also inspired them to actively participate in creating a greener and more sustainable future.

Recognizing the rich cultural heritage of our community, we also introduced the cultural event "SAMPREETI" to celebrate Independence Day. This event provided a vibrant platform for individuals to express their artistic talents through singing, dancing, recitation, drawing, and photography. "SAMPREETI" aimed to nurture and showcase the diverse cultural expressions of our community, encouraging people to take pride in their artistic abilities and cultural heritage.

Through these initiatives, we emphasized a holistic approach to social welfare that includes environmental stewardship and the celebration of cultural diversity. Our efforts have not only fostered a sense of unity and national spirit but also highlighted the interconnectedness of social, environmental, and cultural well-being. By engaging the community in these meaningful activities, we continue to promote a more inclusive, aware, and compassionate society.
